The End of UMNO

1. 10th May 1946, at the Third Malay Congress in Johor Bahru, with Onn Jaafar as its leader had formed a Malay nationalist party, UMNO. The aspiration back then was only to oppose the Malayan Union. As time flies, UMNO took part in politics and become a dominant party in BN coalition.

2. After UMNO shifted its focus from going against Malayan Union to politics and governance, it aspired to protect the Malay culture and preserve, defend and uphold the rights and privileges of Malays across Malaysia. Few years back, I noticed some changes in the UMNO under Najib's leadership. They have gone too far from their main objectives and aspirations. UMNO leaders today only fight for their own personal and family interest. Government procurements were given to friends and family, and money has become their new god. The "cash is king" culture has become usual within UMNO.

3. UMNO is so conservative that no one is allowed to criticize its leaders. Anyone who is brave enough to criticize UMNO will either be suspended or to a certain extent, sacked. Muhyiddin Yassin for instance, was sacked along with Mukhriz for voicing out their dissatisfaction. Not only them, Shafee Afdal was suspended for the same reason. UMNO veterans, Tun Daim, Rafidah Aziz and Rais Yatim were also sacked for criticizing Najib. No freedom of speech is given to UMNO members. It seems like every UMNO member need to agree with all the doings of Najib whether it is right or wrong. This is irrational if we think with a sane mind. Those who are in UMNO today are cowards who do not dare to speak out. If they couldn't speak out for themselves, how can we trust them to speak out on behalf of the rakyat.

4. In every election, Johor is already a secured place for UMNO. Majority votes always come from Johor and it is considered as UMNO stronghold. But after Muhyiddin was sacked, the pattern of support has changed. Many seems to disagree with Najib's decision to sack Muhyiddin just because he voiced out and what Muhyiddin had said is true. In this GE14, I am very sure that the wind of change will come from Johor.

5. Not only the issue of Muhyiddin being sacked hurts the feelings of Johoreans. But also the issue of Forest City. The contracts were given to Chinese developer, Country Garden Holdings, a China based company. The developer said that only 40% of the project was awarded to Malaysia companies. This shows that Najib's government doesn't care of the people interest and doesn't even care to create job opportunities through this project especially for the Johoreans.

6. Najib thinks Johoreans are stupid. He thinks that he can fool Johoreans just like how he fooled his UMNO members. Johoreans cannot be easily bought and fooled with money. They are smarter than all the UMNO members. They dont practice the "cash is king" culture.

7. In this 14th General Election, Johoreans will bring a wind of change to Malaysia political landscape. They are the hope for a better Malaysia. UMNO will have no place in the hearts of Johoreans. UMNO was born in Johor and it will soon die in Johor. After GE14, the people of Johor or Bangsa Johor will be considered as Malaysia heroes by all of us. Let the warriors of Johor end the reign of this self proclaimed Bugis warrior.
